Y Pant is an English-medium state comprehensive school in Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. The school takes boys and girls from year 7 to year 13. In the last three years the intake at year 7 has been oversubscribed. Around 10% of the children in the school receive Free School Meals.

At 6th form the school operates a consortium arrangement with another local comprehensive school, Bryn Celynnog which is about 3 miles away. The timetable is planned jointly between both schools and students are free to study a subject at either school. Currently about 20% of Y Pant 6th form students take one or more subject at Bryn Celynnog, the proportion being higher in year 12 than in year 13. A free bus is provided to transport students.

Most of the intake to Y Pant 6th form is directly from year 11 at Y Pant.

During the academic year 2016-17 the school experienced huge upheaval due to a move into a new building which for most of the current cohort applying to university, was during their year 11. The move was delayed several weeks beyond the planned date and as such, a great deal of material and equipment was in storage and not available for lessons.

The school offers a mainly traditional mix of subjects at A-level: Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, Computer Science, Geography, History, Religious Studies, Music, Drama, Art, Media Studies, Design Technology, French, Spanish, Welsh, Physical Education, Business, Travel and Tourism.

We do not teach Further Maths at Y Pant so students travel to Bryn Celynnog for these lessons. In addition students can also choose to study A-levels in Law, Photography, Applied ICT and Health and Social Care at Bryn Celynnog.

We also offer some vocational courses at Key Stage 5: the Level 3 OCR Cambridge Technicals in ICT Introductory Diploma and the Level 3 Diploma in Environmental Science. Bryn Celynnog also offer Level 3 courses in Sport, Performing Arts and Applied Science.
